I Have Seen the Future, and It’s Name is i
Resistance was futile 30 seconds after I had it in my hands for the first time.
Sure, I’d seen the commercials and read the hype.
What I didn’t begin to know was that the iphone isn’t a phone. It isn’t a camera. It isn’t a hand held computer. What it really is…. is an emotional experience. It’s the experience of beauty. Form and function have come together and the result is just flat out cool.
Like I said, 30 seconds into it and I knew the question was no longer if I would get one. The question is when.
I’ll probably start with the ipod touch, which is the iphone sans phone and camera. It’s a wi-fi, touchscreen, hand held computer. I’m happy with my phone plan now, but I’m sure I’ll eventually go for the phone, but I’m definitely starting with the ipod touch.
The most surprising thing about the whole deal was discovering how clueless I was in thinking that the iphone was basically a fancy cell phone. It’s so not that.
It’s the internet in your pocket in a really easy to use way.
It’s fucking awesome.
Oh yeah, it’s also a phone.
