The first time I had a go at the 30 Day Challenge I was incredibly lost. I ended up buying a domian name that was completely wrong for what I had in mind and so it has been sitting undeveloped for more than a year.
So I finally decided to get it going using my favorite eBay affiliate software (phpBay Pro) and a new theme I actually paid money for. The site ended up being more than sixty pages because of all the categories, but right now I think it looks pretty good. I’m sure in a week I willl hate it.
Here is my new (old) site just chock full of dog supplies and dog collar supplies: The Happy Dog
I have no idea if I will be able to draw any traffic, the whole site was really nothing more than a proof of concept, but I am encouraged by the results and I have learned a lot about how to better use this theme.
I just bought a new domain tonight and so I will have to build that site out, but I think I am also ready to do more training and so I need to review the WordpressDirect disk I have as well as catch up in the worlds of Stompernet and Ed Dale.
Several weeks ago I planted lettuce and spinach in my garden. They both sprouted on schedule, but the lettuce soon fell victim to something that ate all of it in two nights. I smail and bug bait out so I had no idea what ate the lettuce. The spinach got chewed somewhat but it evidently wasn’t as appetizing to the pests, so it is doing well.
Then last week I planted lettuce again and as soon as it was barely sprouted, it got attacked, but I spotted the culprits and it was birds. They were pulling up the very young sprouts to get the seeds. However, some of the larger sprouts survived the birds and they were starting to grow nicely. Then tonight I spotted the real lettuce thief.
A rabbit!
Living in the middle of suburbia, it is easy to forget that there are still wild animals around and rabbits are not only shy but largely nocturnal, so it isn’t surprising that you don’t see them very often.
I think the rabbit is cool and I’m willing to do without the lettuce. Hell, I think I’ll stop at the store tomorrow on the way home from work and buy some rabbit food and leave it out for him. His hiding place is under the shed, so I’ll leave some near there and see if he eats it.
Sometimes my progress in this internet marketing game seems to come at a glacial pace, but at least it comes, eh? I’m making significantly more now than I was a year ago, so I am happy about that. But I’m still nowhere near my goal of supporting myself entirely from internet income and so I get impatient.
Anyway, the good news is that March finished with three good days and I ended up with my best month ever. I hope every month is my best month ever. Car Police Auctions continues to be my star property with the most traffic and by far the most in earnings. My ACRU’s from that site are paying $28 and that’s a nice little chunk that drops in from time to time.
Right now I’m concentrating on site building and getting all my current domains up and running. Once that is done, I will go back and work at promoting all my sites with quality back links and new content and then I’ll be ready for another round of keyword research and new domains. And so it goes for the foreseeable future…
Ok I think I’m done with the hummingbird videos for a while. Here’s one where the sun is right to get the iridescence of the feathers. The males are smaller and have the neck tufts and there is a gravid female that comes in towards the end of the scene.
I grabbed a low patio table to get more height on the tripod and so I got this much closer scene. There are some very good examples of hummingbird calls in this one. At one point one of the birds calls so closely to the microphone, that she overloads it!
Hummingbirds seem fearless. They fly right up to you and check you out.
I don’t think it’s a lack of fear. I think it’s that they instinctively understand that we live at different frame rates. What are you going to do? GRAB him? We must seem glacial creatures to them.
So here’s a couple of minutes of unedited feeder action.
There is a new site in the stable of my phpbay sites and I’m announcing it here. ArcheryHunting-Equipment.com is, as the name implies, a shopping site for bow hunting and archery equipment. Just got it whipped into opening day shape and hit it with some social bookmarks and made page three of Google in about an hour. Cool.
I look in the mirror and I see this old guy and I can’t believe it’s me.
I don’t feel like that guy. And I don’t really know what exactly that means. I don’t know what the “feeling” is that doesn’t match to that old guy, but something’s not right.
I still laugh like I always have. I still do stupid shit like I always have. I’m still in awe of the world like I always have been. I still fall in love like I always have.
I’m going to promote these new expansions in the usual ways and then I’m going to ket it sit and see if I can pick up some traffic while I work on my other sites. Eventually, I am going to expand the site to take advantage of all the top Health and Beauty search keywords and also all the higher level categories like Bath and Body.
So January was my best ever month in total eBay affiliate sales and then February sucked but so far this month I am on track for another good month. As soon as I get to the point where my bad months will cover my monthy nut, I’m going to quit the day job and do the Internet Marketing thing full time. I can’t wait!
It is kind of surprising how mechanical this digital process actually is.
So here I sit in Southern California, at my desk, in my bedroom, with my computer glowing next to me and one of the many computers it is currently talking to is sitting in a room somewhere in the midwest. That is where the many files that comprise this site are housed. And so with the push of a button, my thoughts from the bedroom are flashed in a wink to a computer a thousand miles away and it sends them on to you. And you could be anywhere in ther world. Literally.
Anyway, Makeup Discounters is getting a directory overhaul and major upgrade, so I am back to work on that. Laterz.
